Finance professor Cheol Eun and assistant finance professor Suzanne Lee won an Outstanding Paper Award for "International Factor Linkages" (co-authored by doctoral student Hyung Suk Choi) at the second annual International Conference on Asian-Pacific Financial Markets, held in Seoul, Korea.

Strategic management associate professor Frank Rothaermel was appointed to the editorial board of the Strategic Management Journal, the leading academic journal for research in strategic management. He was also appointed to the editorial board of Strategic Organization. The December 2007 graduating classes of both the Executive Master’s in Management of Technology and Global Executive MBA programs voted Rothaermel Outstanding Professor of the Program.

Strategic management professor John McIntyre was named adjunct distinguished professor of international studies at the Solbridge International School of Business of Woosong University in South Korea. He also published the book Globalization of Chinese Enterprises (Palgrave-MacMillan) and served as guest editor of a special issue of the Multinational Business Review on “Sustainable Development and the Multinational Corporation as a Tool of Competitiveness.”

Eric Overby, assistant professor of Information Technology Management, was a finalist in the 2007 Doctoral Dissertation Awards Competition of the Association for Computing Machinery (category: Management Information Systems).

Cheryl Gaimon, Regents professor of operations management, was the distinguished speaker for the Technology Management Section of the Institute for Operations Research and Management Science (INFORMS) Conference in November 2007 in Seattle, Washington.

Information technology management professor Sandra Slaughter was named departmental editor for information systems at the journal Management Science.

Strategic management professor Marie Thursby was named associate editor at the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization.

Organizational behavior professor Terry Blum, director of the Institute for Leadership and Entrepreneurship, was invited to join the editorial board of the Academy of Management Journal.

Sundaresan Jayaraman, joint professor of polymer, textile and fiber engineering/information technology management, served on two National Academies Institute of Medicine Study Committees in fall 2007. These committees published the reports “Preparing for an Influenza Pandemic: Personal Protective Equipment for Healthcare Workers” and “Soldier Protective Clothing and Equipment: Feasibility of Chemical Testing Using a Fully Articulated Robotic Mannequin.”
