Undergraduate management majors turned the tables on recruiters January 14 at the College of Management’s Reverse Job and Internship Fair. Fifty-two undergraduate students displayed their work on class projects, in research, or through internships to 45 representatives from 24 companies.

The College held this type of career fair for the first time this year, selecting high achieving students to participate. “We’ve gotten great feedback from both students and recruiters,” says Lauren McDow, professional development program manager for the Undergraduate Programs office. “Many recruiters told me they plan to contact students they met about employment opportunities as well as recruit in the College of Management in the future.”

Josh Skola, recruiting manager for Enterprise Rent-A-Car’s Management Training Program, says: “I was very impressed with the students’ projects and the way they carried themselves when presenting their material. It was very obvious to me that they all put a lot of time and hard work into their projects. There is no doubt in my mind they have very bright futures ahead of them, regardless of what companies they choose to work after graduation.”

Junior Brandi Herringdine says she made a number of promising contacts at the event. Right now she’s open to all types of careers, and her poster display depicted her wide range of responsibilities in her co-op job as marketing coordinator for WiFi Wandering. She designed the poster as a “snapshot” of her desk on a typical day, even including Post-it note reminders.

Between her freshman and junior years, she says she’s noticed and appreciated the “tenfold” increase in undergraduate career services offered by the College of Management. “This career fair was a great event,” she says.
