Walk-in advising during phase II of registration will be offered December 22-24, 2008 and January 5-9, 2009. Just stop in for advising anytime between 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. in room 322 of the College of Management. You are encouraged to meet with your advisor before walk-in advising begins for assistance with registration, academic goal planning, academic problems, or any other questions or concerns. Overloads: There are no overloads in MGT classes. Schedule your MGT classes as soon as your time ticket opens. Information about overloads/permits in other majors is available here. MGT faculty cannot overload students into classes.
Pre-reqs on MGT classes: Pre-reqs are not waived. Please plan accordingly.
Duplicate errors: If you try to sign up for two MGT 4803 (Special Topics) classes, you will get a duplicate error. To avoid this error, request a “duplicate course override” by emailing undergrad-program@mgt.gatech.edu. Include your full name, GTID and the CRNs of the two MGT 4803 classes in which you’re trying to enroll and you'll receive a permit that allows you to sign up for both courses.
MGT Electives: remember we do not offer MGT electives in summer, so take all MGT electives in fall and spring terms.
2000-level courses: Should be taken before 3000-level MGT courses.
MGT 3000 (Marketing Management): requires junior-level standing (60 completed credits) prior to start of class. If you will have 60 credits by the start of the class, please email undergrad-program@mgt.gatech.edu with your full name, GTID and request access to the class. This is not an overload, just waiver of the junior-level requirement. We will check your transcript to assure you will have junior standing by the start of class.
MGT 4195 (Strategic Management): is for graduating MGT seniors only. Students graduating in that specific semester are given priority and permits in the class. During the last phase of registration any remaining seats in the class will be open to all other non-graduating seniors who have finished all 4195 pre-requisite courses.
Free electives:can be taken on a pass/fail basis and you must decide if you want to take a class pass/fail by the end of the first week of classes. The number of pass/fail hours you are allowed to take is based on your total credits completed at Tech. Guidelines are here. Classes towards certificates should not be taken pass/fail.
Directed Study/Special Problems Courses: If you plan to conduct an independent study project with a MGT faculty member (called a Special Problems Course/Independent Study), your completed special problems form may be submitted during phase I registration or no later than the first day of the semester. Students must have a 2.7 GPA to be eligible for special problems courses. The form is available here.
LCC 3401 (Technical Communication -2 credits): is a new degree requirement for ALL freshmen, transfer students and change of major students who started the undergraduate Management program AFTER the spring 2007 semester. MGT Students who started the program BEFORE summer 2007 can take 2 credits of free elective instead of LCC 3401
36-hour rule: remember that your last 36 credits of your degree MUST be completed AT or THROUGH Georgia Tech. The only way to attend another institution during your last 36 credits is by cross-enrolling at another institution (which means you’re simultaneously enrolled at Tech and another college) or by studying abroad with an official GT study abroad program.
